is one of the most pressing challenges facing our nation today. It not only affects individuals but also has deep consequences for families, societies, and the overall economy. Despite being a country blessed with immense youth power, India still struggles to utilize this demographic dividend effectively. As the State General Secretary of Kisan Congress and someone closely connected to rural India, I strongly believe that the time has come to address unemployment with sincerity, innovation, and pragmatic policies. The problem of unemployment can be traced to multiple reasons. Rapid population growth has created huge pressure on existing job opportunities. The gap between education and employability is another important factor, as many young graduates do not possess the practical skills required in the job market. Moreover, insufficient industrial growth, mechanization in agriculture, and irregularities in the unorganized sectors have widened the gap between job seekers and job providers. If we truly want to overcome unemployment, the focus must be on generating livelihood at both rural and urban levels. Agriculture still remains the backbone of India, but instead of relying solely on traditional farming, we must push for modern and diversified approaches such as food processing, organic farming, and agri-business enterprises. By empowering farmers and rural youth with training, technology, and financial support, we can create millions of jobs within the villages themselves. This will also prevent excessive migration to cities and reduce the burden on urban infrastructure. At the same time, industries must be encouraged to set up units in semi-urban and rural areas. This not only creates jobs but also ensures balanced regional development. Skill development programs should be linked directly with local employment opportunities. Vocational training, entrepreneurship promotion, and start-up support for youth from farming families can open up new possibilities of self-employment.The government must also ensure fair policies for small businesses, easier access to credit, and investments in sectors like renewable energy, healthcare, and rural infrastructure. These areas have the potential to absorb a large number of unemployed youth and contribute to both economic growth and social stability.Unemployment is not just an economic challenge but also a social one. It leads to frustration, migration, and sometimes unrest among the young population. Therefore, we must act with urgency. As a representative of the farming community, I firmly believe that sustainable rural employment is the key to solving this rising crisis and making India truly self-reliant.—Malkhan Singh Bhadoriya
